Sotiris Loukopoulos  (also known as Sotiris Universalis) is a Greek author, political scientist, and active activist with a deep connection and passion for the island of Gavdos.

Born and mainly active in Athens and the Greek periphery, he has been involved in politics. He is a graduate technologist in agronomy, speaks and writes in four languages, is studying industrial design and production engineering, and works occasionally. His main occupation at this time is as an analyst focusing on local government, sustainable development of regional areas, and the protection of small islands.

In 2024, he published the book  The Hainis of Gavdos  (Universalis Publications), a work based on true events that captures his love for the island, its daily life, its beauty, as well as the problems it faces (such as illegal construction).

He is very active on social media (mainly Facebook), where he posts videos, photos, and comments about Gavdos. He defends the truth and the protection of the island, while writing is one of his great passions. He appears to spend significant time on the island, which he considers an “earthly paradise” and defends with great passion.

In summary, he is a multifaceted personality who combines writing, political thought, and active struggle for the promotion and protection of one of the most unique and remote Greek islands.
